Bradleys’ thermography equipment allows us to predict many motor problems. An infrared Thermography spectral display is a snapshot in time, showing the disparity of temperatures exhibited throughout a motor. When seen in comparison with baseline displays, the effect is even more dramatic.
Elevated temperatures can be the result of bearing faults, shaft misalignment, belt misalignment, loose or tight bearing fits, mechanical binding or overloaded motors. Even winding faults can sometimes be caught in the early stages of failure. Knowing the condition of a critical piece of equipment allows for scheduling of required maintenance, in many cases avoiding catastrophic failure at the most inopportune times.
Bradleys’ thermal imagers deliver high-resolution images so temperature differences can be seen, even very fine differences. This technology uses the previous image and captures a visible light image to provide enough detail for the results, helping to identify all components for repair. Our onsite Thermography service and documentation ensures a complete quality system; while minimizing unscheduled down time.

Predictive Technology Testing for Preventative Maintenance:
Bradleys Field Service Team uses Predictive Technology Testing Equipment to survey your plant’s motors’ last vibration and amplitude; as well as provide vibration trends each time, during each survey. Through a series of surveys generated over time, Bradleys’ software algorithm identifies the potential issue with your motor, by running a fault detection report to pinpoint bearing issues, alignment issues, imbalance and much more. Once the Bradleys team evaluates the report, shown above, we suggest the solution: pull the motor for repair, align it, balance it, and many more actions that need to be taken to prevent failure.
At some time during a motor's life, it is likely to experience high vibration levels. What's behind this maintenance phenomenon? The cause may be an electromagnetic or mechanical imbalance, loose components, rubbing parts, bearing failure, or resonance.
When a problem occurs, it is critical to quickly identify the source and take corrective action. Bradleys’ vibration analysis device is a portable, route-based instrument used for collecting vibration data on rotating machinery. Bradleys’ CSI-2130 device is a portable, route-based instrument used for collecting vibration data on rotating machinery. It reduces collection time by more than 50 percent, compared with similar devices. This allows Bradleys to determine the severity of the stress level of bearing or gear wear on your motor. The data is recorded from each machine and uploaded on the software, providing quick recognition of change in the vibration pattern, as an indicator of deterioration. Corrective actions are then taken.
